Guest Tosh Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Its no fun in 38 degree sun without air-con. I am out in Perth Australia and my air-con is forever breaking down and being patched up. On boxing day it finally packed in altogether. i think i am the only Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra owner in Oz and as usual ford doesnt want to know so i need to source a compressor and a reciever/dryer unit from the UK and find someone willing to send me the parts. Hopefully after the conversation i just had with the people at www.vacs.co.uk they should fix me up but i have a query about the part number they are telling me i need compared to the part number my auto electrician gave me to source so any clarification on this would be a help before i comitt to having parts sent out to Oz that may be the wrong ones. i have a 1999 1.9tdi zetec galaxy and the part number i have is SDV7AB compared to vacs SD7V16 I am assuming the number i have is just a typo and vacs know their stuff. Not such a canny scotsman after all!! best regards Steve McIntosh Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Was your Gal originally registered in the UK? If so, your auto electrician should be able to get the relevant info from a Ford dealer if he has your original UK registration number or chassis number. There are a number of different options depending on which engine you have, and year of manufacture. Quote
johnb80 Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 I would suggest if poss getting some digital pictures of your old unit and sending them to potential suppliers as well and get them to do likewise. One further thought, isn't there someone in Oz that could recon your existing unit ?? Regards - John Quote
davec Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 if u send chassis number and a pic of part I will pop up Ford dealer and see if they can do part check for you Quote
JonDonkin Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I guess my suggestion would be to take the partcodes and do a google search, you should come up with a few sites with pictures of the compressor offered under that partcode like This link Compare the pictures with the compressor on your car to check they do in fact look the same (assuming they are all the same design of course). I had a choice of 2 and did this to find the correct one. Jon Quote
